The Five ( 5) Steps to Creating a New Blog with Blogger.com
- Write A Blog Title; just as i have mine to be ” NOUN Reporters Blog“
- Choose A Blog Address – yourblogname.blogspot.com. Always check to know if the address you want to use is available or already been taking by someone else. . . And try to avoid the use of underscore and numbers on your blog address.
- If you’ll notice, Nounreporters.blogspot.com has already been taking; so instead of me to use hyphen, numbers or underscore – I then added a Blog to it ( Nounreportersblog.blogspot.com )
- Select A Blog Template – I like the Simple Blogger template because it looks nice and also easy to customise
- And then click ” Create Blog” button
Your blog must be ready by now.
Hover to the Blog Overview Page to tweak the settings and designs.
How to Add a Blog Description
Click on Settings -> Basic -> Description
Click on ‘Edit‘ and Add a tagline or description to your blog
Then Type in your desired tagline to Identify what your Blog is, to your readers when they visits your blog at the first time and it also helps for Blog SEO
After typing your Blog description, then click ‘Save Changes.‘
Now, the Blog is cool but not beautiful
The Nav Bar on a Blogger blog does have cons and pros. It sends visitors to your blog and it can also send out readers/ visitors out from your blog to someone else blog
The Lost visitors could be Lost Email Subscribers and Clients. And I know you wouldn’t want such issues to happen to your blog
This a Nav Bar that’s appearing at the top of every .blogspot blog
Click on Settings -> Navbar
Then Click ‘ Edit‘
A new Page will appear showing you Navbar Configurations
Choose the Off option and Click ‘Save’
To confirm the Changes you made to the blog – Click on ‘Save Arrangement‘ at the Layout options.
Now your Blog should look better than before.
How to Add Pages to your Blog
Click on Pages -> New Page / Create a New Page
Enter your Page Name, Add Contents ( Text & Images ) – Then Click on ‘Publish’
Note: Be very fast in typing your Page title because if there’s a little time delay; the page address which is suppose to be – http://nounreportersblog.blogspot.com/p/about-us.html will end up becoming http://nounreportersblog.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html ( it doesn’t look nice at all )
How to Allow or Remove Reader Comments on a Page Post
Click on the Options icon at the Right Sidebar
Choose your desired option – Allow or Don’t Allow Comment on your page post, then click ‘ Done’
How to Publish a New Post on your Blogger Blog
Click on the New Post button at the Left Sidebar widgets
Enter Post Title on the Provided Space, Add your Contents – Then Click ‘Publish’
Choose a Label to Categorise your posts to a particular group or items
Separate the Labels with Comma, then click ‘Done‘ to save your changes
Then choose a different permalink post structure other than the default settings by Blogger.com
By default, The Post URL was set to be -> http://nounreportersblog.blogspot.com/2016/05/how-to-create-blog-for-free-with.html
It didn’t satisfy my need because there was a break on the post URL – it ended at /how-to-create-blog-for-free-with instead to be /how-to-create-blog-for-free-with-blogger-com
Click on Permalink -> Custom Permalink ( Write your choice URL ) – > Click ‘Done‘
The Blog post address is now /2016/05/how-to-create-blog-for-free-with-blogger-com.html . This is more better – i think
